Yes...in small town America
The weekend presented the area with a reminder that rural America is not immune to those happenings that we often see on TV or in the media. Chesterfield High School was the center of attention when it was discovered that one of their students had assembled the necessary ingredients to construct a bomb. Per reports, the student had also kept a diary outlining his reasoning, intentions and plan of execution. The student's parents made the discovery and though very difficult, they did the right thing by notifying the authorities so that applicable action could be taken. We can deny that a sub-culture exists, but it's attributes are seen daily. Graffiti on property, drug transactions, physical and mental attacks on our children and students, peer pressure, etc. Each time we let an instance slip by without some counter action, we as citizens have assisted in the promotion of this sub-culture...our continued inaction could one day grant it first place in society.

Race for Solicitor
A surprise announcement from Jay Hodge that he is retiring as Fourth Circuit Solicitor and would not be seeking re-election. Will Rogers, an assistant Solicitor in Chesterfield, Darlington, Dillon and Marlboro Counties has thrown his hat into the ring and why not? He has been "in the trenches" for the Fourth Circuit for over 10 years and certainly knows the logistical operations of the office and harnesses a broad understanding of the "supply and demand" of the courts. Mr. Rogers faces some competition from a Darlington attorney, but whom do you fish with? The guide who knows the waters well or the other? Mr. Rogers has launched a website, www.WillRogersforSolicitor.com
The website serves as a valuable communication and information tool for Mr. Roger's campaign and invites input from the public..."sail on Mr. Rogers".
