Chesterfield County Coroner's Race...is it over?
Some still have questions regarding the Attorney General's ruling found in Section 40-19-190 of the 1976 Code which states "No licensed funeral director or embalmer may serve as coroner." Maybe the AG has made a change in the ruling at some point, but if they have, it didn't provide the documentation to a citizen recently. Having said that, the voters of Chesterfield County in the recent democratic primary chose a funeral director as their nominee, but what does that say about the nominee who may have had knowledge of this ruling? What does it say about our democratic party that allowed the candidate to participate in the primary? While the Attorney General's office doesn't seem to have enforced the ruling, it was certainly concerned about the matter enough to make it an issue at some point. "Johnny do not eat those cookies"...yes mama. Johnny eats the cookies anyway, mother does nothing to discipline Johnny, so Johnny has gotten away with the misdeed, thats one issue, the other is Johnny's character is now in question?
