Foxworth Very Visible.
Jim Foxworth, candidate for Chesterfield County Coroner certainly has to be given an "A" for visibility, on a drive through town today I've seen an RV with his signs, a truck with a large sign, a golf cart with large sign, and now a bicycle with signs. He seems to be creative in getting his name in front of potential voters and very driven in his campaign efforts. It's refreshing to see his type of canvassing.

Great Turn Out !!
The Darlington County Democratic Party event, "Meet The Candidates" had a good showing last evening. Held at the JC Daniels Building, the forum created an opportunity to hear from candidates vying for Fourth Circuit Court Solicitor, Darlington County Sheriff and House Seat 62. Solicitor candidate, Will Roger's gave an impressive speech with updated statistics regarding court cases, it seems that Mr. Ervin's figures were somewhat skewed and dated back for several years which gave the appearance that there was a tremendous backlog, when in fact, theres not. For myself, it was the first time that I have been able to see Mr. Ervin in person and frankly.....consider lending your support to Will Rogers. He is familiar with the operations of the office and has the leadership ability to continue the fine programs it has installed, while seeking prosecution of hardened criminals.

Professionalism Shown
Those in attendance Thursday night at the Cheraw Community Center for a chance to meet many of the candidates running for office were presented with a noticeable level of integrity and professionalism. Notably, Will Rogers, Jack Rivers, Jim Foxworth, and Matt Rivers seemed to be right on target with the issues and their plans if elected or re-elected. It was refreshing to see candidates who were responsive and focused.

"Unethical for Mortician to Serve as Coroner"
The South Carolina Attorney General's office has ruled that it is unethical for a practicing mortician to hold office as coroner. While the ruling is in place, it doesn't appear that it is being enforced. The race for Coroner in Chesterfield County includes a candidate that is a "practicing mortician", so the race in and of itself could provide a testing of the ruling, assuming there is any reaction from the Attorney General's office. A state by state summary of "conflicts of interest in US Coroner Systems" can be found at www.FuneralEthics.org/summary.htm
